John & Tammy’s Story
When John and Tammy lost their health insurance, they didn't know where to turn. John had been diagnosed with diabetes when he also developed a heart condition.
Tammy: “One of the biggest things when he had his heart issue was that not only could we not afford the medicines to help him, but we couldn’t afford insurance that would help him pay for the medicines because of his preexisting condition. You have this worry over you that you can’t express. It’s like being at the bottom of the barrel but it’s not your fault.”
“The medicines were so expensive that we had to make decisions on what medicines he could or couldn’t take. We did that for months until we found Healing Hands.”
Healing Hands Health was not only able to help John and Tammy with medication, but we were also able to provide medical and dental care.
John: “Not to have a pity party, but I felt like my life was going to be shortened if I couldn’t do anything to get my health under control. I needed help and there were no resources to help me until we found out about Healing Hands. When Healing Hands opened the doors and accepted us here, it was a miracle for us. Insurance to cover my medication would be extremely high, and it’s unaffordable. They were able to get my medications to me at a very low cost. I don’t know where we would be at today without them. They have been a blessing. There’s a compassion you can feel there.”
Tammy: “In life, you never know what kind of situation you might get in and it doesn’t matter what age you are. Maybe you lost your job or maybe you’re someone like me who lost their medical insurance. Healing Hands has filled the gap for us. They have been the difference between surviving in John’s case and not. We try as much as we can to volunteer for Healing Hands now because we feel like we owe it to them for all they’ve done. Healing Hands has made all the difference.”
Tammy: “Ephesians 3:20 says, ‘Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.’ I am truly overwhelmed with the reality of this verse. God abundantly blessed John with Healing Hands and here is the “exceeding” part...I get to be a patient, too! At Healing Hands, we also get dental and vision care, help with medicine, and have access to programs that help us learn how to make better health choices. Unbelievable!”
Tammy: “When Jesus was here, he helped so many people with physical problems. Because he was healing their physical needs, he was also healing their hearts - all their worry and discouragement and despair. This is exactly what Healing Hands does. They reach out their hands to heal our bodies so God can heal our hearts.”
